On this excursion you can explore and admire the most representative example of a Cretan Renaissance city, which is the city of Rethymnon.

Rethymnon is definitely the most picturesque, the most welcoming and the most authentic town in Crete.

As in all Cretan cities, Rethymno is full of Venetian features, constituting one of the best preserved Venetian cities in the Mediterranean. The landmark of the city is the Castle of Fortezza, which was built in 1573 to protect the Venetians from Ottoman navy attacks.

The Old Venetian Port and many remnants from the Ottoman oppression are also very important monuments. Behind the castle of Fortezza, lays the Old Town of Rethymno, with numerous scenic alleys and memorials.

Before reaching the city of Rethymnon we make some stops to admire the unique beauty of Crete.
The 1st stop is at Rogdia, 12 km from Heraklion city to admire the great view of the Cretan sea & also the uninhabited island of Dia.

The next stop is 1km before the village of Bali to take beautiful photos of pretty landscapes from a high vantage point.

Afterwards we stop near from the city of Rethymnon, where you can see the city from a great panoramic location.
